In April of 2002, a freak accident left Eric with a broken neck. He was told he would be a quadriplegic and would not walk again "proved them wrong". God had other plans, and Eric did not accept that diagnosis and pushed himself that much harder. Through the years, he has made tremendous progress in spite of several setbacks. He has never accepted that he can’t do things. If there is something he wants to do, he figures out a way to do it.
Because of his injury, he keeps up-to-date on the latest research and spends a lot of time talking to others with spinal cord injuries to encourage them and motivate them to never give up. He has the ability to talk to them and to relate to them since he has gone through most of the same things.
He loves learning and trying new things whether it is building model airplanes or preparing food in the kitchen. He has a love for music and can play several instruments as well as write songs.
His goal is to keep getting better and to always be an inspiration to others around him. He has a heart for others and a persevering attitude in everything he does. Eric is a perfect example of what a positive mental outlook can do.
Eric is currently recording 3 cd's of his original music, Playing Lap Steel Guitar, Dobro, Weissenborn, Drums and Singing, He builds Walking Canes, Lap Steel Guitars and various other items and is writing a Book about Spinal Cord Injuries.
